I'm so excited to finally be settling down here in Beaumont. There really isn't anything I don't love about this town; the people, the little shops, the new restaurants popping up and the fact that even though the town is rapidly growing, it still has a wonderful ‘small-town’ feel.

I was born in Edmonton in 1989, where I lived for a few years until my family moved to Chilliwack, BC. Growing up on the west coast, I got used to rainy winters and humid summers. As a family we enjoyed riding horses, raising farm animals, taking walks down by the Fraser River, catching frogs in our pond, and occasionally making the 20 minute drive to the US border where we would drive across and explore restaurants and carnivals in north Washington. My parents enrolled my sister and I in every extracurricular activity under the sun; dance, skating, modeling, karate, and gymnastics to name a few. For me though, nothing quite stuck like piano lessons, which my parents enrolled me in at the early age of 6.

As a child, I was never much of an athlete, and was much happier to spend my time involved in art and music. Be that as it may, there were times when my mother had to fight, bribe and negotiate her way into getting me to practice piano (sorry Mom), as I loved to spend time outside playing. Nevertheless, I had found something that I was good at, and my competitive nature led me to become heavily involved in music festivals and Royal Conservatory exams.

We moved back to the Edmonton area where I finished High School in Beaumont. After graduating, I decided to take a break from my academic and musical studies and became a Lifeguard/Swimming Instructor. I quickly discovered my love of working with children and continued to work in this field for the next five years, taking my work with me to Calgary, where I moved in 2011 to pursue a diploma in Baking and Pastry Arts at SAIT. Upon graduating in 2013, I returned home to Beaumont and began working at Duchess Bake Shop, a wonderful french bakery in Edmonton. A little over a year later, I enrolled myself back in piano lessons and picked up from where I had left off after high school. It wasn't long before I realized that I wanted to pursue a career in music and teaching. After I took on my first students as a brand new teacher, I knew that I had finally found what I was meant to do.

I have had the privilege of being mentored by an array of wonderful pianists in the Edmonton area over the last several years, who have not only helped to lead me forward on the path to my personal goal of completing the Royal Conservatory program, but have also helped me develop and cultivate my skills as a teacher and musician.  Since I started teaching in 2015, and I can honestly say that it is the most rewarding and wonderful thing I have done with my life. My ultimate goal is to help children and adults discover their love of music, to motivate them the way that I have been motivated, and to help them to develop their technical and musical skills in a positive environment. My greatest reward as a teacher is not only seeing my students succeed, but also seeing their love of music develop.

Thank you for visiting my page today. I hope that this is the start of a wonderful student-teacher relationship, and that I can help you recognize your talent and start you on your musical journey.
